- Costa Blanca
Torrevieja is situated on the coast in the Southern Costa Blanca region just north of the Costa Calida. The city of Torrevieja lies about 50 km south of Alicante. Torrevieja can be reached via the N332 road N 332, a road that encompasses the whole of the Costa Blanca.
Torrevieja has two natural saltwater lagoons, which form the "Salterns of Torrevieja" & they are believed to be the biggest in Europe. The entire area around of Torrevieja and Orihuela are famous for their salt production. Huge salt lakes surround the road that runs from Alicante. It is impressive and fascinating producing annually more than half a million tons.
Torrevieja is in close proximity to Alicante (the provincial capital) with its international airport, & is just 35kms from San Javier international airport in Murcia. Its climate is dry & equable throughout the year with over 300 days of sunshine.
It was once the home port of the largest fleet of sailing boats in the Mediterranean. Today the esteemed Real Club Nautico of Torrevieja & Puerto Deportivo marina hold in excess of 1500 mooring places of high quality. Smaller marinas are dotted along the coastline (many within easy reach of the town).
Among the opportunities for recreation, the town has very easy access to some of the best golf courses around. Villamartin, which hosted the '94 Mediterranean Open, Las Ramblas, Quesada, Campoamor, & the newly built La Finca course are all less than 20 minutes drive away. A little further away is the renowned La Manga Golf Club.
The choice of international bars & restaurants is endless as is the choice
of nightlife.
