Torremolinos is located 7kms west of Malaga Airport which has evolved into an attractive and appealing resort with clean sandy beaches, a wide variety of entertainment, good restaurants, activities and a great appeal for the younger set with the hectic nightlife that is available.
The town is flanked with original fresh fish bars located in the shopping centre and in contrast exclusive boutiques and gift shops as well as other tantalising shops, thronging with people of every nationality.
The main shopping area is at the heart of the town with its paved pedestrianised street lined with boutiques and shops with a fantastic variety of goods on offer.
Out of season, Torremolinos is much more Spanish with an air of welcoming friendliness, especially at weekends.
Through the old fishing district of El Bajondillo takes you to a popular and picturesque area lined with restaurants and kiosks selling souvenirs - this also leads to the El Bajondillo Beach.
The seafront promenade extends east to Playamar and west to la Carihuela and now continues as far as Benalmadena Marina.
The Torremolinos beach area with massive hotels, apartment blocks, bars and restaurants is packed during the summer. Amongst the high rise apartments and hotels are numerous public gardens with many species of trees and plants.
A visit the El Calvario area, located to the north of the main road offers a quieter area of small streets of bars for those who prefer to be away from the bustle of the centre.
