Nerja, Costa del Sol
Nerja is situated East of Malaga a distance of approx. 50 kms on the coastal highway which takes approx. half an hour to drive.
It was once a sleepy fishing village that has grown in population into a town. It has 16 kms. of beautiful sandy beaches and beautiful clear water where all major water sports are available, including water skiing, scuba diving and sailing.
The dramatic mountain range of the Sierra Almijara to the east of the town adds to the beauty of the area. The old part of the town has narrow, winding streets with whitewashed houses & terraces flowing with colourful and sweet smelling flowers.
Nerja boasts a spectacular promenade that meanders along the edge of a cliff that was once the site of a Moorish castle. There are breathtaking panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea with small coves and beaches below & the awesome backdrop of mountains.
If you wish to take it a little easier, you can hire a horse-drawn carriage to see more sights of the town and enjoy a romantic and tranquil step back in time.
There are a good variety of restaurants and cafes to choose from in Nerja and the beautiful gardens of Capistrano Playa draw you closer to the main Burriana Beach.
Nerja is approx. an hour’s drive away from Marbella
