Denia, Costa Blanca
Denia is a vibrant and friendly town situated on the Mediterranean coast midway between the cities of Alicante and Valencia, it provides the ideal location for Villa rental holidays & Apartment rental holiday homes are numerous.
Denia has a resident population of approximately 37,000 but, during the summer months this is swelled with many more people, of all nationalities, who come to enjoy this sunny area.
Denia is blessed with approximately 20 kilometres of coast. To the north, fine sandy beaches; to the south rocky, precipitous beaches, such as Las Rotas Beach, which has a great many small coves and creates areas of great beauty.
Each year these beaches are awarded the European Union blue flag, which is always coveted by its recipients as it is only given to clean and well equipped beaches.
This area is steeped in history and ancient cultures & the fact that Dénia has been ruled by the Moors, Romans, Carthaginians and Iberians is evidenced all around.
As living proof of the constant passing of civilizations you can today enjoy the examples of architecture which have been left, the best of which is probably the magnificent but battle scarred castle which overlooks the town.
Denia is a port & has been so from ancient times. Denia also has an excellent & busy marina. When walking about you can view the very old district and, by the port, you can find the fish market.
The fact that it has been, & still is, a thriving fishing port has clearly influenced the delicious dishes of the area and from where the gastronomy has evolved.
The town of Dénia has excellent road and rail communications. You can get here by taking the exit 62 (Ondara) on the A-7 motorway or by travelling the national road N-332 which runs close to the town. A narrow-gauge railway connects Dénia with the provincial capital, Alicante, passing by Calpe, Altea, Benidorm & many other interesting towns on its journey.
From the Port there is a daily service to the Balearic islands of Majorca, Menorca & Ibiza. You can reach such beautiful places as Palma de Mallorca, Menorca and the very peaceful island of
Formentera.
