El
Campello - Costa Blanca
El Campello is situated some 9 miles north of Alicante on the Costa Blanca & is within a twenty five minute drive from Alicante Airport.
Although originally a fishing port, El Campello is now an important holiday resort with about 14 miles of beaches and coves.
El Campello still has a busy fishing harbour, a large marina and many shops bars and restaurants on the sea front promenade.
The town is overlooked by the El Campello Tower overlooking the harbour which was built in the 1500's as a lookout against the arrival of Berber Pirates. They used smoke signals to warn other towers that had been built along the coast during the day and fires were lit when it was dark, to warn of the the impending arrival of the Pirates.
El Campello lies on on the main N322 road & it is just a few minutes from the main A7 motorway. This close placement to two major roads means that El Campello has easy access to the whole of the Costa Blanca & the Costa Calida.
The surrounding countryside and mountains are quite spectacular and are within a half hour drive of the coastline. The scenery is truly beautiful and you will find an abundance of fascinating mountain villages, all with their own history. Views from the mountain fortress of Guadalest rival those that you will see anywhere else in Spain, and, on a clear day, you can see as far as the Island of Ibiza, 60 miles out in the Mediterranean.
If you wish to enjoy the beach and some peace and quiet, then El Campello is an excellent choice as it does not have a lot of the usual downsides of mass tourism. However, all of the usual tourist facilities are within easy reach.
The El Campello promenade, is virtually 2 miles long and provides a lovely evening stroll during the setting of the sun. You need to take advantage of the beaches and sea during the day.
There is a huge choice of authentic Spanish restaurants and bars, all serving delicious meals or tapas. The El Campello Marina is situated at one end of the bay, offering both a lively fish market and a selection of sumptuous restaurants. The apartment is within 5/10 minutes walk of both the marina and the Paseo del Mar.
